For Immediate Release: GreenlightAC and DC Mayor Adrian M. Fenty Announce Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Installation at Vornado/Charles E. Smith Building

DC-based company bringing electric vehicle charging to the District through installation of its flagship product, the ChargeBar

Washington, DC: Today, GreenlightAC, a DC-based electric vehicle charging station company, and District of Columbia Mayor Adrian M. Fenty are announcing the installation of GreenlightAC’s electric vehicle charging stations in the District.

Max Brown, CEO and co-founder of GreenlightAC, said, “We are tremendously excited and honored to be bringing electric vehicle charging to DC.” He continued, “In the next 10 years, there will be nearly 20 million electric vehicles on the road nationwide — we want to make sure that drivers of these vehicles will always have a place to charge up safely and reliably, starting right here in the District.”

David King, COO and co-founder of GreenlightAC, said, “The work we are doing here with Vornado/Charles E. Smith — installing electric vehicle recharging equipment in a premier downtown Washington office building — is an important step in making this city and this region plug-in ready. We expect that the public and private sectors in the District of Columbia will lead the way in national transportation electrification efforts, and GreenlightAC is excited to be a part of those efforts.”

“My administration has a longstanding commitment to make the District a plug-in ready community, and we are proud to support GreenlightAC in their efforts to put the infrastructure in place to support these vehicles,” Mayor Adrian M. Fenty said. “Large numbers of electric vehicles will be here in the next year — now we will have a place for them to plug-in.”

Vornado/Charles E. Smith will install a group of ChargeBar units at its parking garage at 2101 L Street, NW in Washington, DC. Mitchell N. Schear, President of Vornado/Charles E. Smith said, “We are continually implementing innovative green initiatives that make our buildings and our communities more sustainable. We are pleased to announce the first installation of GreenlightAC’s ChargeBar in our 2101 L Street building — providing a convenient place for our tenants and other users to plug in.”

Fitzgerald Auto Malls is contributing a plug-in Toyota Prius that Mayor Fenty will plug into GreenlightAC's ChargeBar. A Fitzgerald executive said, “We are happy to be part of this event and applaud the efforts of GreenlightAC, Mayor Fenty, and Vornado/Charles E. Smith in making this region plug-in ready. The more electric vehicle recharging stations there are like the ChargeBar, the more comfortable people will be in buying electric cars, which is good for our business but also good for the environment.”

GreenlightAC will be installing its flagship product, the ChargeBar, where people live, work, and play, beginning in 2010 in the DC Metro region and across the country thereafter. The ChargeBar will be one of the easiest, most reliable, most cost-effective and safest electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) consumer charging products on the market.

Area businesses and bureaucrats are making the same bet: Electric cars will not go the way of some dot-coms — hyped, hailed then disdainfully discarded.

They’re ramping up their investments to produce, support and buy electric-powered cars, giving the nascent industry a considerable head start from many of its other alternative fuel peers. They say the electric car movement has many drivers — $2.4 billion in stimulus money, $7,500 in federal tax incentives for electric-car buyers, an auto industry set to roll out next-generation electric cars by the end of next year, and an administration proclamation that 1 million electric cars shall crisscross the country’s roads by 2015. >>read more<<

Washington, DC: GreenlightAC today launched its electric vehicle charging infrastructure products and services.

GreenlightAC provides safe, reliable, and user-friendly recharging equipment installed at the driving destinations and homes of electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) owners. GreenlightAC’s flagship product, the ChargeBar, will be one of the easiest, most cost-effective and safest EV/PHEV charging products on the market.

Max Brown, co-founder of GreenlightAC, said, “We are extremely excited to be rolling out our new company here in our nation’s capital. The demographics of this region coupled with the emergence of alternative fuel transportation provide a great market in which to sell our ChargeBar unit. Additionally, we will be creating the kind of green collar jobs that will fuel our economy in the next decade and beyond and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – both important components of our core philosophy.”

GreenlightAC is selling to commercial building owners, parking garage managers, museums, sports facilities, homeowners, and government customers in the Mid-Atlantic region as part of its initial roll-out.

David King, co-founder of GreenlightAC, added, “Our products allow PHEV drivers to go further and to more places – in essence, GreenlightAC extends the range of electric drive vehicles. Drivers will know that they can always find a safe place to charge their cars because our products will be in place throughout plug-in ready communities. Our goal was to make it as easy and convenient to use our charging unit as it is to use a gas pump. And with our GreenlightAC ChargeBar we believe that we have succeeded in meeting that goal.”

GreenlightAC’s custom manufactured ChargeBar unit will provide:

    • both 110 volt (slow) and 220 volt (fast) charging;
    • integrated GFCI and circuit breaker technology;
    • automatic power termination when the door to the unit is open to
      reduce risk of arcing or accidental electric shock;
    • socket illumination and area lighting; and
    • user friendly interface allowing for easy and positive user experience

GreenlightAC products will be installed in Q3 at selected partner sites throughout the Washington metropolitan region, with initial product installed where people work.
